    Career

    Charlie Lea was made ready three times: in 1975 by the New York Mets, in 1976 by the St. Louis Cardinals, and in 1977 by the Chicago White Sox. However, Lea didn’t sign any agreement with these teams and decided to move to Memphis State University. There, he signed the agreement contract with the Montreal Expos after being selected for the 1978 draft.

    From 1978 to 1980, Charlie played for the Double-A Memphis Chicks in the Southern League. In 1979 and 1980, he was selected as an All-Star player. In his final season at Memphis, he won 9–0 and achieved a 0.84 ERA.
